FLYING ANTS

Winged Ants vs. Swarming Termites

Winged ants and termite swarmers are often mistaken for each other. Their size is very similar. However, there are several notable differences.

Thief Ant:

APPEARANCE - Pale yellow to light or dark brown in color. Often is confused with pharoah ants. Very small in size 1/16" long.

Pharoah Ant:

APPEARANCE - Brown to light brown and shiny. This species is about 1/10" long. Commonly found in kitchens and bathrooms.

Carpenter Ant:

APPEARANCE - One of the largets ants, 1/4" to 3/8" long. Color varies depending on species, from red to black or a combination. The most common species is black in color.

 ANTS:

Swarmer / Reproductives:

APPEARANCE - Black or brownish in color. Wings equal in length and longer than its body. Straight antennae 1/4" to  3/8" long.
